| | david bowie | ] | so the *shocking* revelation is that i am bipolar. not really so shocking at all..... i feel more at peace just knowing that there is a reason for my ups and downs.
i think everything's gonna be ok...
i've been handling work well...there IS a lot of pressure on the receptionists coming from both the clients and staff... it must sound like a joke to most people...."boohoo, being a receptionist is so hard"....blahblahblah, but being the gatekeeper sucks. a lot. i'm taking advantage of the perks later today. getting a massage and facial.

thanks for your continuous support. |

my coworker, "Dan", and I were talking about medication yesterday. i've always remembered him having to take a daily dose of pills. i always thought it was for blood clots or something...
revelation: he is hiv positive.
he is my first positive friend.
i'm proud of myself for not recoiling in terror as i'm sure most people do if/when they find out. |

| | hopeful | ] | .....i'm sure we've all given up reading this journal.
i figured i should give it another try.
writing clears my head.
i also want to keep up some kind of morning ritual/routine. i'm going to TRY to write each morning, set my intention for the day, and keep track of my progress now that I am finally getting my head checked on tuesday.
(i wasn't being ironic when i picked this journal's name)
---
i feel more hopeful today. it is peace of mind that i can finally begin seeing a doctor. yes, that one thing makes all the difference. without having secured a dr., i felt like this depression would go on indefinitely..... at least now i know that i'm heading towards manageability. i will be able to manage this depression/anxiety. i don't want to let it control my life.
---
work resumes with a normal schedule tomorrow. i've asked to work just 4 days a week. i got a gym membership for June to give me an outlet when i'm bored. i'm trying to find a yoga class that i *love*....no one even comes close to Louisa! there are a few street fairs this month that I'll be able to go to because I now have Saturdays off. (i was the only person who worked both weekend days).
---
hopeful. i am hopeful. |

| [ | mood |
| | bored | ] | i've been overwhelmingly bored lately.
the past week went like this:
sunday-work
monday-work
tuesday-work when i got home, all of the roomies were there, which is somewhat of a rarity. we shared in a quality meal - tequila shots and homemade sloppy joes since Liz attended Le Cordon Bleu. wednesday-work
thursday-day off. woke up to police in my house...me at gun point having just woken up... the neighbors had been burglarized and the perps jumped into our backyard. the cops came in through the back door.....uhhhhhhh, just a little scary. at least i know that the treasure island police are quick to respond.
friday-day off. took the bart to oakland just to get out for a bit. reminded me what i am NOT missing in the east bay.
saturday-work talk about dramatic.....the ubergay guy whom i work with (and who is obviously threatened by me) decided to quit when they told him that I am now in charge of inventory for the salon. He flipped out, as usual, and made a big scene. If he really ends up leaving, I'll feel way more comfortable at work. I have a feeling that he's all talk and will continue working here and whining through every minute of it. today/sunday-work.
since my mattress was not delivered last week, i'll get it this week. i feel like i am still living in someone else's space; i have yet to personalize anything about it. once the ugly bed is out for good, then i'll start.
---
still trying to think up an awesome halloween costume. Charlie is coming here for the last weekend of October. Flying in Friday night, shopping and having a massage at my salon on Saturday, we'll grab dinner and drinks that night, brunch on Sunday and a night tour of Alcatraz...with a great view of the sunset, and she'll depart on Monday. I can't wait, and I am looking forward to experiencing the restaurants of the city morseso than i have thus far.
---
by the way parents: I NEED A LAPTOP. feel free to buy my birthday and xmas present right now. not having internet access regularly has been very problematic. my work emails me daily, and i need to register at CCSF. Very important! |

went to the castro street fair this weekend. fabulously fab. nowhere near as crazy as i expected. sushi. gay men.
---
trying to carry around a notebook so i can at least write down my thoughts while i'm IN the city. i'll forget tomorrow.
---
unexpected UNawesomeness. Fleas. bombing the house this week.
---
free cable means i've been able to catch up on project runway. yay. i want laura or michael to win.
---
looking up napa valley wine tours. charlie and i are going for my birthday. otherwise an uneventful day. i FEEL the fleas....even though i think it's pyschosomatic. |

found an apartment.
a townhouse, if you will....
2 girls, 1 boy, and ME.
right here on Treasure Island.
---
that's right, I'm staying on the island.
new place includes roommates my age, a fire pit for BBQs, and an out-of-order hot tub that I will make sure works very soon. right on the waterfront. great view of the entire bay...facing northbay-ish. overlooking Alcatraz! right by the bus stop. there's even visitor parking so you can come visit me without worrying about a ticket.
let's see how many more ways this is awesome. i want to learn bass and how to spin records. new roomie, steena, IS a bass player and a DJ. justin is a server at chevy's so..........free food. i walked into liz's room only to find a sid and nancy poster on the wall. we have similar musical taste. she was also using some sophisicated vocabulary and i commented on her verbage. she said she'd been testing the potential roomies and i was the only one who had noticed.
downside: they all smoke cigs. in the house. and there's a dog.
otherwise, I've already got the key, and I move in next Saturday.
contact me for my address. |
